Join the Nature’s Conservancy’s Forest Health Outreach Team this summer!

Who We Are:
The Nature Conservancy’s Forest Health Protection Program’s goal is to protect America’s forests and street trees. You’ll help us this summer through two campaigns:
Don’t Move Firewood (www.dontmovefirewood.org) – a multi-media outreach campaign to raise awareness about the threat of invasive insects and diseases and discourage the movement of firewood over long distances, and Healthy Urban Trees – a new program focused on early pest detection education.

Intern Responsibilities:
• Promote the Don’t Move Firewood message at music festivals, agricultural fairs and similar events through active engagement with attendees in western MA, eastern NY, and northwestern CT
• Assist with early pest detection education and outreach for tree care professional groups
• Coordinate and plan logistics for events
• Office work related to forest health priorities

Who You Are:
• Undergraduate or graduate student with coursework related to environmental studies, or relevant employment experience.
• Outgoing, self-starter with ability to work independently and as a team.
• People person with excellent oral communication skills who loves to engage dynamically with the public.
• Social media wiz: Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare.
• Forest ecology enthusiast (preferred but not required).
• Comfortable wearing insect “mascot” costume at events.
• Previous education experience a plus.
